Pig Pen Unleashes Hardcore Fury with Debut Album Mental Madness

In a true testament to the creative sparks that can ignite in the most challenging times, a new force in hardcore has emerged: Pig Pen. This isn't just another band; it's a supergroup born from the pandemic's chaotic energy, featuring a lineup that's as surprising as it is heavy.

Leading the charge is the beloved celebrity chef and screen personality Matty Matheson. But don't mistake this for a vanity project. Matheson's is a legit hardcore kid and his raw, guttural vocals are backed by a serious scene pedigree. The band features Wade MacNeil of Alexisonfire on guitar, alongside the incredibly versatile Daniel Romano also on guitar, with Ian "SKI" Romano on drums, and Tommy Major laying down the crushing basslines.

This formidable quintet managed to channel their collective fury into a blistering ten-track debut album, Mental Madness, which they famously recorded in just 48 hours. The first taste of this mayhem came with the single "Mental Mentality," a raw, unfiltered anthem about the brain's ability to sabotage even the best of days.

The band's live debut at Toronto's legendary Sneaky Dee's was a sold-out frenzy, proving that the hype is very, very real. Fans can finally get their hands on Mental Madness when it drops on June 27th via Flatspot Records. Pig Pen is here to prove that hardcore is alive and well.
