Tycho Teams Up With Interpol’s Paul Banks for Brooding New Single, “Boundary Rider”
An Isolation Anthem Arrives
Full Circle: Tycho Collaborates With Long-Time Influence Paul Banks on New Track
In a striking convergence of atmospheric electronic and brooding New York style post-punk, Tycho (Scott Hansen) has just released his new single, "Boundary Rider," a major collaboration with Interpol frontman Paul Banks. Hansen, who has long cited Interpol as a core influence, channels a decidedly post-everything aesthetic for the track, crafting crisp percussion, swirling guitar, and fleeting synths over which Banks delivers his signature vocals. The concept for the track, which began as an instrumental titled "Forge," was inspired by the isolated lives of 1930s "Boundary Riders"—those who patrolled the vast fences of the Western Australian outback—a solitude that perfectly mirrors the deep sense of isolation woven into Banks’ lyrics. The single is out now via Mom+Pop (US) and Ninja Tune (UK/ROW).
This collaboration arrives as both celebrated artists continue a demanding run of creative projects and touring. For Tycho, who is twice Grammy-nominated and released his sixth studio album, Infinite Health, last year, the track is the latest addition to a remarkable resume that includes collaborations with ODESZA, Maggie Rogers, and Death Cab for Cutie. Having recently wrapped a successful run of US dates with Polo & Pan, mesmerizing over 67,000 concertgoers with his signature ISO50 visuals, Hansen is set for a November series of headline DJ shows and a special TYCHO:ISO50 installation at Art Basel. Meanwhile, Interpol is still riding the momentum of celebrating the 20th anniversary of their iconic sophomore album, Antics, with Paul Banks scheduled to join the band for a South American tour in the spring of 2026, ahead of a high-profile appearance at the 2026 Coachella Festival.
