Tame Impala’s “Dracula” Emerges Just in Time for Spooky Season

A Prelude to Deadbeat

Kevin Parker delivers a dark new cut ahead of Deadbeat

With “Dracula,” Tame Impala extends the hypnotic momentum of Deadbeat into its most shadow-inflected corner yet. Produced by Kevin Parker, who co-wrote the track with songwriter Sarah Aarons, the single underscores his continued command over Tame Impala’s musical direction. Its accompanying video, directed by multidisciplinary artist Julian Klincewicz, mirrors the song’s nocturnal drive with surreal, rave-lit imagery. As the third advance offering from Deadbeat—Parker’s fifth studio album, out October 17—the track reflects a broader shift: recorded between Fremantle and his Wave House studio in Western Australia, the album draws on the textures of Australian rave and bush-doof culture, pushing Parker’s meticulous psychedelia toward darker, dance-driven terrain where precision meets the pulse of underground nightlife.
